During Seachtain  na Gaeilge we celebrated  our native language through various activities. We wanted the children to enjoy the celebration of our irish culture through music, song , dance, art and most importantly through the spoken word. Children in the various classes were rewarded for speaking gaeilge during the week with stickers, prizes etc. Bhi  dánta amhrain agus gníomhaiochtí chultúrtha eile ar suil i ngach rang. Quizzes as gaeilge, seanfhocal and art competitions were just a few of the many activities which happened during seachtain na gaeilge.

Our ceolchoirm, and ceilí were the highlight of the week. A very enjoyable time was had by all at the Céilí. The children danced ‘Ballaí Luimní’ and ‘Shoe the Donkey’ and each class sang their hearts out. They included some  modern pop songs as gaeilge. The winners of the Art competition also received their prizes. Bhí sé go hiontach, maith sibh go léir!

Below are some photos of the fantastic artwork based on the different seanfocails.

The Ceolchoirm was a huge success. The children gained great confidence performing for each other.

The children really enjoyed dressing up in green and different colours to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge and St. Patrick’s Day. The Ceilí was such fun!
